Minister for Housing M.H. Ambareesh, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital here since February 21, is likely to be shifted to Singapore.

Hospital sources told The Hindu that Mr. Ambareesh’s family is keen on shifting him to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. Actor Rajinikanth is stated to have advised the family.

Meanwhile, Randeep Guleria, Professor and Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders at the All-India Institute Medical Sciences (AIIMS), flew down to Bangalore on Friday to see Mr. Ambareesh.

Sources said Mr. Rajinikanth, who was also treated at the same hospital in Singapore, was in constant touch with the Minister’s wife Sumalatha.

“His family members and doctors from Vikram Hospital have been briefing doctors at AIIMS and Mount Elizabeth every three hours over the last two days,” they said.

Two doctors are likely to accompany Mr. Ambareesh in a chartered air-ambulance. Doctors said that the condition of Mr. Ambareesh is stable. “The process of weaning him off the ventilator is yet not complete as he is still unable to breathe on his own. All the other parameters are normal,” hospital sources said.
