Alleged misconduct in school on Kanakapura Road to be probed

A student has complained that a teacher was staring at her

The school on Kanakapura Road in which a teacher had been accused of misbehaving with girl students, said on Saturday that it was the only incident reported by the student so far.

School authorities told Block Education Officer (BEO), Bangalore (South Range 1), K. Prakash that the physical education instructor had been accused of staring at a girl and that he had been sent on long leave from Thursday last.

Uncomfortable stare

The school is under the spotlight after a class VIII girl student complained that the physical education instructor was staring at her and that she was ‘uncomfortable at the way he stared at her’.

Meanwhile, parents have claimed that it was not the only such incident involving the instructor.

“Other instances were discussed at a meeting between school authorities and parents on Friday,” a parent said.

Mr. Prakash said, “The management denies that there were more such instances. We will, however, probe the issue after consulting senior officers.” On Saturday, the school was closed when Mr. Prakash visited it for conducting an inquiry.

“Every fourth Saturday, the school is closed. The school authorities later came to my office,” he said.

The management had not reported the case to the police and the Education Department until it was reported by the media.

‘Complain to me’

Mr. Prakash urged the parents to address their complaints to him. Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has sent a notice to the school, seeking a reply in three days.
