An alleged Indian Mujahideen operative, involved in the blasts at the M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium here two years ago and also alleged to be involved in the terror attack plot near Jama Masjid in New Delhi recently, was arrested in Kolkata. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials, who are probing the case, arrested the accused on Tuesday, and identified him as Kamal Hassan (24) with aliases such as Bilal, Billu and Kalu, a native of Balha village in Madhubani district in Bihar.

Two low intensity improvised explosive devices (IEDs) went off in quick succession outside the stadium, the IPL venue for the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians, on April 17, 2010.

At least 15 persons were injured in the blasts minutes before the match was to start. Another IED was found near the stadium, which was defused.
The CCB sleuths stumbled upon him in their effort to trace Yasin Bhatkal, who is believed to be the mastermind of the stadium blasts. The accused was brought to Bangalore and produced in court, which remanded him in police custody, an officer at the CCB said.
Kamal Hassan is a member of Indian Mujahideen's Bihar cell and a close associate of Yasin Bhatkal, who is in-charge of IM's urban operations in India.
