The Election Commission of India and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) organised a campaign — Enrolment of the youth in electoral rolls — to encourage young voters to take part in the political process in Bangalore on Friday. The drive to include more youth in the electoral rolls will be on till the end of this month.
Till date, the Election Commission had received around one lakh applications from youngsters over the age of 18. The heads of around 200 educational institutions participated in the programme and were urged to create awareness among the youth.
The BBMP will appoint nodal officers who will visit colleges to collect details from students for Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) and later drop them off at the colleges.

A revenue official will also be appointed for each Assembly constituency, who will have to coordinate with all the nodal officials in the individual constituency’s jurisdiction.
