Vehicular movement in the central business district was severely hit on Monday. Several roads, including J.C. Road, K.R. Road, Double Road and surrounding areas, witnessed bumper to bumper traffic.
This was the result of a protest rally that was being taken out by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) that cut through major intersections and transit points. Hundreds of KRV members took out the protest rally from Town Hall to Freedom Park, urging the government to drop the proposal to trifurcate the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
The traffic police said that Palace Road was blocked for an hour and this led to choking of traffic on Maharani College Junction, the busy K.R. Circle and Hudson Circle. Even K.H. Road (double-road) which served as an alternative for J.C. Road for those coming from South Bengaluru to the centre of the city remains choked.

This, while the special Assembly session is discussing the Bill to bring in amendments to the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976.
Meanwhile, the BJP's Youth Wing also took out a rally protesting against the proposed trifurcation. Several members also tried to storm the Vidhana Soudha where the special session is currently underway.
The police have detained over 400 members of both KRV and BJP's Youth Wing.
