Social activist T.J. Abraham called on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday and urged him to order a CBI probe into the alleged involvement of Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar in the purchase of disputed land.

On September 6, 2012, Mr Shettar, then chief minister, obtained the Cabinet’s approval to purchase land to construct a building for the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), at Rs 63.55 crore. The land belongs to Murugharajendra Swami of Bruhan Math in Chitradurga.

Mr Abraham on Monday had said that the Law Department stated in its report that it was not economically viable to purchase the land in question due to a legal dispute. Mr Shettar rejected the allegation saying that the land deal was as per rule.
