Woman plucking fruits electrocuted

A 63-year-old woman was electrocuted near a hotel on Banaswadi Main Road here on Sunday.

The victim, Zora Chhana, a native of Mizoram, was plucking fruits from a tree near the hotel when she came in contact with a live wire that was hanging near the tree branch and collapsed. The body was noticed by passersby who alerted the police.

Zora Chhana had been living with her daughter and son-in-law in the city for the past seven years. Banaswadi police have registered a case.

Falls to death

A 22-year-old construction worker died after he accidentally fell from the fifth floor of a building in Whitefield in Mahadevpura police station limits here on Saturday.

The victim, Safan Burman, a native of West Bengal, was working on the centring of the building when he fell and suffered severe injuries.

He was rushed to a private hospital where he died.

The police said that the construction work was being carried out for over a year now by a private firm. A case has been registered.

Stolen

A gang made away with valuables worth Rs. 6 lakh from a house of a 27-year-old woman located in Anjanappa Layout in Cottonpet police station limits here on Saturday.

The complainant, Harshiyad Ahmed (27), who lives on the first floor of the house, went to talk to her mother-in-law who lives downstairs, as they were about to leave for a wedding in the evening.

However, when she returned upstairs she found that about 230 grams of gold, a camera and a mobile phone had gone from her room. A case has been registered.

Robbery

Three men waylaid two workers of a private financial company and robbed them of cash in front of a BMTC depot near Hebbal Flyover in Amruthahalli police station limits here on Saturday.

According to the police, the two workers were travelling towards Nagavara on their motorcycle with the company’s collection amount when they were robbed.

The complaint was filed by the owner of the company R. Manjunath, a resident of Horamavu. The police have registered a case.
