UAS-B tops the country in junior research fellowships

The University of Agricultural Sciences-Bengaluru (UAS-B) has been ranked first among all the 73 agricultural universities in the country in terms of junior research fellowships (JRF) awarded in 2016 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

According to a release, 48 students from the UAS-B have been chosen for the JRF through competitive examination, which is the highest for the country.

While 41 students have cleared the exams in the Agriculture category, seven have got through in the engineering and technology category.

The results of the JRF are generally considered as an indicator of academic standards of different agricultural Universities.

The award for topping the country was presented to UAS-B Vice-Chancellor H. Shivanna by Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh in New Delhi recently.

The UAS-B had been ranked as second in the country in JRF exams in 2014 and 2015.
