Sub-inspector accuses MP of humiliating him

August 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 10:25 am IST - Bengaluru:

A police inspector has sought permission to file a case against member of Parliament D.K. Suresh for allegedly abusing and humiliating the officer during a review meeting at his residence on Thursday.

The Police Sub-Inspector, T.R. Srinivas, attached to Attibele police station, has submitted a complaint to the Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru district) seeking necessary action against the MP for “obstructing a government servant” from discharging his duty. Mr. Suresh, who represents Bengaluru Rural and is the younger brother of State Power Minister D.K. Shivakumar, refuted the allegation.

In his complaint, Mr. Srinivas said the MP had called police officers in Anekal taluk to his residence to discuss law and order issues.

“After the meeting, Suresh used disrespectful words while addressing me, and accused me of collecting bribes. I tried to reason with him stating that there was a misunderstanding, but he was in no mood to listen,” Mr. Srinivas said in his complaint.

The public remarks humiliated and embarrassed the officer, notes the complaint.

Reacting to the allegation, Mr. Suresh told reporters that he had called the police officials following a series of complaints from the public regarding law and order issue.

“I was discussing possible actions to curb growing mugging and other criminal activities. I have not humiliated anyone. It was only through the media I was informed of a complaint against me. I urge a detailed probe and I am ready to face any investigation,” he said.
