Software engineer run over by truck dies

A software engineer was killed on the spot when a speeding truck knocked down his motorcycle and ran over him on a narrow lane leading to Graphite India Road. The accident took place on Tuesday around 11.40 a.m.

The rider, identified as Pawan Kumar (26), was as resident of Mahadevpura. He hailed from Maharashtra. He had been heading to International Tech Park. While heading towards Graphite India Road, he took a turn into the narrow lane.

As he was riding on the road that was worse for wear owing to rain, he slowed down but was hit by a truck. “The truck driver was unable to control his vehicle and ran over him,” said the police. Pawan died on the spot. He was wearing a helmet at the time.

Passers-by caught the driver who was trying to flee and handed him over to the K.R Puram traffic police.

The police have seized the truck and shifted the body to a hospital for a post-mortem. The driver has been booked on charges of death due to negligence, and rash and negligent driving.
