Nearly thousand protesters arrested after clash with the police

Drivers and paramedics of the 108 ambulance service continued their protest against the management of GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute at Freedom Park here on Wednesday. Nearly a thousand protesters were arrested and shifted from the venue after they clashed with the police.

GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (GVK EMRI), which runs the 108 ambulance service, had threatened to fire 900 of its employees if they fail to sign an agreement and follow their terms and conditions. Some of these guidelines include not approching the media or staging protests.

Protesters, carrying brooms, said they would clean the road from Freedom Park to Vidhana Soudha. However, after they clashed with policemen, nearly a 1,000 protesters were arrested and shifted from the venue.
