No role in student's death: Bescom

September 25, 2010 03:35 pm | Updated 03:35 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) has denied its culpability in the death of an engineering student on Krumbiegel Road on Tuesday.

Reacting to media reports in which Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike had blamed the power utility, a Bescom release said it had completed the laying of power cable and restoring the pit by August 28 with BBMP's permission. Later, a small pit was dug to attend to a fault in an existing cable and the area was barricaded.

Pointing out that the pit is at least 15 feet away from the accident spot, it said the garbage piled up adjacent to the spot could have been the reason for the fatal accident.
