Bengaluru: A 46-year-old man was killed and the pillion rider injured after being knocked down by a school bus at Srinagar on Monday morning. The eight school children in the bus were unharmed.
The deceased Krishna (46) works as a watchman in a college. The pillion rider was his neighbour, Byramma, who is a helper in a neighbouring school.
Around 7.45 a.m., the bus hit their motorcycle at a T-junction near Kalidas Bus Stand. Krishna suffered severe head injuries and was declared dead when he was taken to a hospital. Byramma is recuperating in the hospital, said the Basavanagudi Traffic Police who have registered a case.

The bus was picking up students heading to a private school in Girinagar nearby.
Police have arrested the bus driver Mohan.
The incident adds to the concern of speeding by school bus drivers. Last year, after a series of accidents, the traffic police had booked more than 15 school bus drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol. In September last year, a school bus crashed into a wall at Chikkajala endangering the lives of 40 children on board.

Boy run over by car, dies
In a separate incident, a five-year-old who had been run over by a car while playing in front of his home at Nayandahalli succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night.
The deceased, Puneet, is the son of Rukmini and Shivaraj, two daily wagers who had migrated from Raichur. On February 4, he was playing in front of their home, a small shed, when he was knocked down by a car. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
Byatarayanapura Traffic Police have registered a culpable homicide case against the driver of the vehicle, Harish Kumar, and secured 10 days’ judicial custody.
