Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of adopting an “escapist attitude” on the Kalasa-Banduri issue, the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, said despite having a BJP government in the Centre, Maharashtra and Goa, Mr. Modi was evading responsibility by asking the delegation from Karnataka to get approval of the Opposition parties in the two neighbouring States.
Addressing mediapersons, Mr. Gowda said he would take action after a week and attempt to meet the Prime Minister again and convince him to intervene. “I have met Mr. Modi thrice. During my last meeting, I appealed to him to convince Goa to release at least 5 tmcft of water to meet the drinking water demand till the tribunal pronounced its final verdict,” he said. He also accused the BJP MPs of offering lame excuses and escaping from taking responsibility.
