Giving senior IPS officer R.K. Dutta some respite, the Lokayukta special court on Wednesday dismissed a private complaint alleging that he pursued a law course without government permission.
The complaint, filed by Mysore-based social activist Mallesh, had alleged that Mr. Dutta misused his official position to pressure the college to grant him attendance despite not attending classes. The Lokayukta special court dismissed the complaint saying the case does not fall under its purview.
The complaint, filed a day after Mr. Dutta, the then chief of the Criminal Investigations Department was recommended for a CBI stint, alleged that he had fraudulently obtained a law degree in violation of civil service rules and sought the Chief Secretary’s permission to prosecute him.

The Lokayukta special court has summoned Chamaraja Assembly constituency MLA Shankarlinge Gowda to appear before it on December 28 in connection with a private complaint alleging that he had produced false affidavit to get a site in Bangalore.
The complaint, filed by N. Kumar, alleged that Mr. Gowda had got the site in 1972 from MUDA. However, after he became MLA in 2008 elections, he applied for a site with the BDA and filed an affidavit saying he doesn’t own any other site in the State.

The BDA allotted him a site in 2009 under G category, which he sold for a higher price, the complaint alleged. The Lokayukta special court judge took cognisance of the case and issued summons to Mr. Gowda to appear on December 28.
