Lawyers happy with the budget

The legal fraternity has welcomed the State Budget and expressed its gratitude to the State Government for recognising the legal field. Karnataka State Bar Council chairman Jayakumar S. Patil has welcomed the move to grant Rs. 50 lakh to the Advocates Welfare Fund. He said the Bar Council had sought Rs. 1 crore.

He said the council would represent to the Government to release additional Rs. 50 lakh.

Advocates Association of Bangalore (AAB) president K.N. Putte Gowda thanked the State Government for releasing Rs. 2 crore for construction of the Vakeelara Bhavan. He said the association had urged the Government to release Rs. 5 crore for completing the work on the bhavan. The association would request the Government to release the rest of the money expeditiously, he said.

Federation of Bar Association in Karnataka president and former BJP MLA K.N. Subba Reddy said there was necessity for expeditious completion of Vakeelara Bhavan and the Government should come forward to release more than Rs. 2 crore for it. He wanted the stipend to be given for five years for young and new members of the Bar.
