Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that the Government will extend all assistance in developing the Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati Authority (KBBA) into a “mini” university.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed administrative office and study centres of Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi Authority — “Vishwa Chetana” and “Kajaana” — on the Karnataka Kalagarama, Jnana Bharathi campus on Saturday.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the Government would not hesitate to translate the dreams of poet Kuvempu in the interest of Kannada. He promised to establish a sprawling park as desired by the former vice-chancellor of the University of Mysore, D. Javare Gowda. Some ardent readers of Kuvempu literature said they would like to present a life-size statue of the late poet so that it could be erected on the Bhasha Bharati premises. The Government would welcome such a gesture, he added.

Delivering the keynote address, Director of the KBBA Pradhan Gurudutt said that the objective of Bhasha Bharati is to get all valuable works of the world translated into Kannada and introduce valuable Kannada works into English and the regional languages.
Secretary of the Department of Kannada and Culture B.R. Jayaramaraje Urs welcomed the gathering. Minister for Public Works C.M. Udasi was present.
Ten books translated from English, Sanskrit, Malayalam and Tamil into Kannada were released on the occasion. They were: Writings and Speeches of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Balagangadhara Tilak (T.V. Parvate), Everest Hero (James Ramsey Ullman), Caesar and Cleopatra (George Bernard Shaw), Nirvana (Paul Carus), Kathasaritsagara (Soma Bhatta two volumes), Damayanthi (Malayalam by K. Kavitha), Mrutyuyoga (Malayalam by Akbar Kakkatil) and Hesaragattegalu (Malayalam by Imayam)
