Developing a passion for maths

The Education Department has directed primary schools in Mysuru district to conduct activities which develop scientific temper and passion in mathematics.

The department has released Rs. 15 lakh to each district under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) and schools can chalk out innovative activities that would develop among students a passion for mathematics. Chandra Patil, coordinator of SSA, said RAA was being carried out in all 2,119 government primary schools covering over 1,69,000 children in the district. Children were also being trained in handwriting and reading.
