The city was lashed with heavy rains on Friday afternoon and mercury headed further south to the joy of citizens. However, the rainfall in the city was uneven with the core and southern parts of the city recording a whopping 44 mm of rainfall, Kempegowda International Airport recorded as low as 1.6 mm of rainfall by 5.30 p.m. on Friday evening. HAL Airport recorded 15.6 mm of rainfall.
The rains pulled the soaring mercury further down. The maximum temperature recorded on Friday was 34.6 degrees, compared to 35.5 degrees on Thursday, 0.9 degrees lesser.
Meanwhile, the heavy rain also led to some incovenience for motorists as the heavy rains put the evening peak hour traffic out of gear, as multiple tree falls and water logging were also observed in various parts of the city.

There were traffic snarls on J.C. Road, Double Road, Kino Junction, Koramangala Club Road, Indiranagar Main Road as these roads saw light water logging in the evening. There was one feet high water in many of these places. Traffic in South Bengaluru was also thrown out of gear as seven tree falls were recorded of which four were in Jayanagar alone. Tree falls were also recorded in Vijaynagar and Wilson Garden taking the total tree falls in the city on Friday evening to eleven. BBMP tree teams have been pressed into action and are now clearing the trees from the roads.
There was water on the ground in Baiyappanahalli and Mejstic metro stations too. Vasanth Rao, of BMRCL said that the metal sheets in the Baiyappanahalli metro station had expanded due to soaring temperatures and the roof was leaking which would be plugged, he assured. Majestic Metro station where work is still on has also seen some water, which was later cleared.
