BMRCL to utilise its land at stations to raise funds for Metro Phase II

Facing the challenge of raising funds for the Phase II of the Namma Metro project, the State government has decided to go for commercial exploitation of the vacant Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) land available at the metro stations that have already come up under Phase I of the project.

BMRCL has the authority to lease out the available land for a maximum of 60 years for establishment of commuter amenities, including parking, and commercial exploitation.

The State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to allow BMRCL to utilise these lands for commercial purposes to generate revenue which could be used for funding Phase II of the project.

Phase I is in final stages of completion. Briefing presspersons here on the Cabinet decisions, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra said land utilisation would be allowed under certain conditions which would be specified soon.

Priority would be accorded to creating parking facility at the stations, he said.

8 acres

Swamy Vivekananda Road: 2.1 acres

Peenya: 5 acres

Nagasandra: 14 acres

Jalahalli: 1.5 acres

Mysuru Road: 6 acres

Banashankari: 5 acres
