65-year-old man stabbed to death

A 65-year-old man was stabbed to death and his friend sustained injuries by an armed assailant in a drunken brawl in Madiwala on Tuesday night.

The deceased Venkateshappa, was having a chat with his son Mohan Raj and friend Madesh in front of his house in Siddartha Colony.

The accused identified as Vasu and his associate Raju confronted the trio and attacked them with knife. While Mohan Raju managed to escape, Venkateshappa was chased and stabbed to death by Vasu. Madesha who tried to rescue Venkateshappa was also injured.

Neighbours rushed the duo to St. John's hospital where Venkateshappa was declared as brought dead. Madesh is said to be out of danger and recovering, the police said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused Vasu from the same locality nurtured a grudge against Mohan Raj and this could be the motive behind the murder.

The Madiwala police are on a massive manhunt for Vasu and his associate Raju.
