The Education Department is all set to shift children from the illegal sections at the Jalahalli school, where a three-year-old was allegedly sexually abused, to nearby schools. The department has identified five schools in the vicinity, sources said.

The school had failed to respond to a notice of the Education Department. The seven-day deadline for the school to close down pre-primary classes, and classes six and seven, which were run illegally, ended on Monday. As many as 567 children study in these sections.

Sources said that with the lapse of the deadline, the management had been asked to facilitate the shifting of the children, besides refund their fees.

The illegal sections were reopened even before the department decided on the next course of action. A criminal case has been booked against the management for cheating and running these sections illegally.
