29 shops raided for selling tobacco products to students

Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials conducted a special drive and raided 29 shops near schools and colleges that were selling cigarettes and tobacco products to students on Monday.

The police arrested two people, booked 47 cases and collected a total of ₹6,380 in fines under various sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.

According to a release, CCB officials have raided 145 shops and booked 24 cases besides arresting 25 persons for violating the COPTA Act till May this year. The police have also seized tobacco products worth ₹3.8 lakh and collected ₹21.14 lakh in fines.
