26 bonded labourers rescued from brick kiln

Officials of the Anti-trafficking Unit of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) rescued 26 bonded labourers and four infants from a brick kiln in Bagalur, Bengaluru North on Monday.

The owner of the brick kiln has been identified as Shame Gowda.

According to the officials, the victims were trafficked from Odisha by Shame Gowda and were found to be living under inhuman conditions. They were beaten by the owner’s men just before the police arrived at the spot.

The police have filed a case with Bagalur Police station and the owner of the kiln was arrested under IPC Section 370 (Human trafficking).
