13-year-old raped by father

A 13-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her father at Kodigenahalli on the outskirts of the city on Sunday evening. The incident came to light on Tuesday, when the girl’s mother, who was away at a relative’s house, returned to find her daughter in pain.

Based on the mother’s complaint, the Tavarakere police arrested the father of the abused girl late on Tuesday. Police sources said that the accused is a daily wage labourer.

Found dead

A woman who was married recently was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house in Pramoda Nagar on Mysore Road on Monday. Mangala Gowri was married to Manje Gowda, a cab driver, eights months ago.

On Monday, Manje Gowda called his parents-in-law informing them that Gowri had died due to cylinder blast. The parents rushed from Tiptur to find that there was no sign of cylinder blast and Gowri had died of burn injuries. Alleging foul play, the parents filed a complaint with the Byatarayanapura police against Manje Gowda.

Bike rider killed

A 38-year-old man was killed on the spot when he lost control of his motorcycle and rammed a parked lorry in Electronics City on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Shiva Kumar, a truck driver. The deceased was returning home after parking his truck in the terminus at Bommanahalli.

Press raided

The Fraud and Misappropriation wing of the Central Crime Branch raided a printing press in Basaveshwara Nagar and arrested three persons who were printing mechanical engineering textbooks illegally and selling them to shops. The police have recovered 1,100 textbooks worth Rs. 28 lakh from them.

Suicide

A 29- year old mechanic-cum-driver of the Fire and Emergency Services department allegedly committed suicide by hanging at his quarters near Dairy Circle on Monday.

The police have identified the deceased as Kishore Kumar, a native of Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada district. The incident came to light when his wife, Bhavya, returned home from her parents house on Monday evening. The Wilson Garden police shifted the body to the Victoria Hospital, where the post-mortem was done on Tuesday.

While the police are yet to ascertain the reason for the suicide , Kishore Kumar's colleagues on condition of anonymity suspected that harassment from seniors could be the reason..

Police said that Kumar was married four years ago to Bhavya .
