The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, which has issued summons to a city school for allegedly shaming a five-year-old girl, is expected to conduct a spot inspection and file a report next week.
The Department of Public Instruction is also examining the legal position of what they can do as the school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.
The girl’s mother on Friday took to social media to narrate how her daughter had been shamed, and went to the Halasuru police station but did not file a complaint as she alleged that the police did not respond properly. Upset with the behaviour of the police, she walked away.

Police authorities said there was a minor tiff at the station but that they were willing to take a complaint.
“We have been calling the parent since afternoon and want to take her complaint. If she approaches us, we will take the complaint immediately,” said Subramanya, police inspector of Halasuru station.
