Vijay Jayapal describes his Tamil-English film Revelations , set in Kolkata, as a ‘small budget film made with a big heart’.
"Ideally, we all make films so that as many people as possible get to watch it. But it's very difficult for independent films to get a wide release. We get suffocated among the commercial films," he says. When asked about lack of government support for small Tamil films, he said, "We can't blame the government. We have to take the blame because we don't have a vibrant parallel cinema scene compared to the other southern States. We need to create a conducive ecosystem before approaching the government."
The self-taught filmmaker said that the trigger for the film, which deals with ‘relationships in a complicated zone’ was a casual conversation with friends.
