‘Include parents in deciding fee structure'

Many parents, tired of paying exorbitant amounts as donation to private schools, staged a protest in front of the office of the Department of Public Instruction here on Tuesday. They demanded the implementation of the Karnataka Education Act of 1983.

Prakash. K, secretary of CPI (M) Bangalore South district committee, said: “According to the Act, a committee of parents, teachers and representatives from the school management should be formed. This committee should also be kept in the loop when deciding the fee structure. But no such committees have been formed. He said that the Commissioner of DPI has promised to convene a meeting of all district-level education committees by February 15 in this regard.
