B. Naveen, a student of Government Boys Higher Secondary School in rural Jalagandapuram town in Salem district, created a record of sorts by securing full marks in botany.
He is the only student to achieve this in the district. A total of 22 students got full marks in this subject in the State.
Naveen scored 192 in zoology. Only four students in the State have got full marks in the subject.

He got 178 marks in Tamil, 142 in English, 165 in physics, 147 in chemistry, 200 in botany, and 192 in zoology.
Son of Balachandran, a daily wage earner employed with a handloom unit, and Maithili, a home maker, Naveen developed a liking for botany when he was in his Plus-One.
During the summer holidays last year, he managed to finish a few lessons even before the school re-opened. This helped him remain ahead in both botany and zoology in his class.

By the time of half-yearly examinations, he had completed the whole portions of both the subjects. In botany, he has been securing 198 or 199 marks in all the revision examinations, but it was for the time he was getting full marks.
“I was confident of getting full marks,” he told The Hindu .
He said that he was sad that he could not get full marks in zoology, as the questions were a little bit tough.
Naveen did not sit for NEET examinations, as he was not interested in pursuing pure medicine course. He has planned to pursue either a paramedical course or agriculture course.
