YSRC stages protests in Vizag for Samaikyandhra

Leaders and activists of YSR Congress held road blockade at different places on the National Highway-16 (NH-16), to protest against bifurcation of the State, on Wednesday.

Traffic was held up on the highway at Gajuwaka, NAD Kotha Road, Birla junction, Government Polytechnic junction, Gurudwara, Satyam junction, Maddilapalem, Isukathota, Hanumant hawaka. At Muralinagar and Polytechnic motorists including RTC buses took a detour through the service road resulting in traffic jams.

The participants raised slogans in support of ‘Samaikyandhra’ and protested against the indifference of the Centre towards the problems of Seemandhra region. The police took into custody leaders of YSRC and cleared the roads. YSRC leaders Vamsi Krishna, G.V. Ravi Raju demanded that the Centre should withdraw its decision on bifurcation of the state.

They criticised the double standards of Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and the Congress for hurting the sentiments of the people of Seemandhra region. The protests were organised under the aegis of Tippala Nagi Reddy at Gajuwaka, Gandi Babji at Pendurthy.
