Workshop for spinal cord injury victims begins

Suranjan Bhattacharya, Head PMR (retd) of CMC, Vellore, addressing the delegates at the 4th annual spinal injury awareness, organised by The Ability People (TAP) in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

A free two-day free check up camp and workshop for persons with spinal cord injuries commenced at the research centre of The Ability People (TAP) at Dabagardens here on Saturday.

The workshop was inaugurated by MP Kambhampati Haribabu in presence of Dr. Suranjan Bhattacharya, former Head of PMR, CMC, Vellore, and the Director of TAP Dilip Patro.

Chief consultant orthopaedic surgeon of Pinnacle Hospital G. Poornanand spoke.

Over 75 students of physiotherapy and victims of spinal cord injuries from Visakhapatnam and Vizinagaram districts participated.

Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao will participate in the valedictory on Sunday.

Mr. Dilip Patro said 10 beds were available for inpatients at their rehabilitation centre and more could be arranged, if required.

Free food would be provided to the patient and an attendant at the two-day camp.
