VUDA to go by law onVepagunta land issue

The land was acquired about three decades ago

VUDA will go as per law in dealing with the issue of taking possession of 144 acres of land near Vepagunta.

If anybody had title, he could go in appeal and for any action as per law his doors are open, VUDA Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar told reporters on Monday.

Following a decision finalised after discussions with higher-ups by the Vice-Chairman, VUDA initiated action for taking possession of the land.

Mr. Sasidhar said so far fencing had been erected for 44 acres of land. The high court verdict was in its favour. Only one writ petition now remains pending.

The land had been acquired about three decades ago by VUDA from Simhachalam Devasthanam and after claims by some tenant farmers the compensation amount was deposited in court according to the Land Acquisition Act.
