VSP contract worker falls to death

A contract worker engaged at the Thermal Power Plant of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant fell to death on Tuesday.

Gangadhar , 40, a contract worker fell from a height of 30 metres while fixing a pipe to a rope. He was declared brought dead at the Visakha Steel General Hospital.

Narsinga Rao, an employee at the Blast Furnace Department died accidentally on Monday when he fell down while getting into a lift.

Visakha Steel Employees’ Congress deputy general secretary Neerukonda Ramachandra Rao said accidents were on the rise due to outsourcing and compromising on safety standards.
