With a view to helping transport departments design and develop its own model of clean transportation that suits its own unique road and driving conditions Sankhya Technologies has developed a modelling platform.
The system prototyping platform like Sankhya Teraptor can be used for modelling to help develop a unique solution at a lower price, says CEO and Chief Technologist of Sankya Technologies Gopi Kumar Bulusu. The research programme can be used for developing a KERS system for buses that can offer a 5 per cent increase in fuel efficiency for buses plying in city conditions.
State road transport corporations spend thousands of crores of rupees on fuel bills annually, even a 5 per cent increase in fuel efficiency of the vehicles can help the company save up to Rs 100 crores per year which could help lower the bus fares for the commuters, he said.

City driving is characterised by repeated braking and accelerating, which often wastes a lot of energy, a study by the US Environment Protection Agency estimates that only a small part of energy generated from fuel is actually used to drive wheels, about 15 per cent. Of this nearly 7 per cent is wasted due to braking. In theory recovering energy from braking can improve fuel efficiency by almost 80 per cent, Mr Bulusu said explaining the importance of the solution.
