Visakha Apartment Builders Association (VABA) honorary secretary P.V.L. Narasimha Raju on Saturday thanked GVMC Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana for his promise to reduce bulk water charges.
A delegation of VABA represented to the Commissioner on vacant land tax, bulk water charges and allowing notarised affidavit instead of mortgage deeds.
Mr Raju said the Commissioner was kind enough to discuss with the VABA over the issues raised by them. He arranged a meeting on February 5 with the Chief City Planner and the Chief Engineer. At the meeting it was agreed upon to charge bulk water charges as follows: charges of Rs.40,000 for one inch connection for apartment buildings up to 20 flats and Rs.80,000 for two inch connection for apartment buildings above 20 flats. Multiple connections will be provided on payments for apartment buildings with more than 50 flats instead of Rs.5,000 per flat.

Mr. Raju said their proposal of vacant land tax charges for one year instead of three years was being taken up for consideration and hoped that the government would approve the proposal. He also thanked Pendurthi MLA Panchakarla Ramesh for taking up their problems with the authorities.
