Upendra succumbs to burns

Potnuru Upendra (15), who made a vain bid to save his sister Roopa, from her jilted lover Hari Santhosh, succumbed to burns while undergoing treatment at the King George Hospital (KGH) here on Saturday night.

The jilted lover Hari Santhosh allegedly murdered Roopa, second year B. Sc student of a private college, by pouring kerosene and petrol on her and setting her afire at her home at T. Nagarapalem under the Bheemunipatnam Police Station limits for declining his proposal. Hari Santhosh later committed suicide by falling under a train near Vizianagaram on Saturday.

Upendra, Std. X STUDENT at a government high-school was a topper in academics and was also good at sports, according to his friends. Upendra wanted to become a police officer.
