Tributes paid to Balimela victims

School and college students took out a rally and along with locals, police, and CISF officers and constables formed a human chain.

The fourth anniversary of the Balimela incident, in which 38 persons, including 32 Greyhound police personnel died when the Maoists attacked the boat in which they were sailing, was observed at Chintapalli in Visakha Agency on Friday.

Speakers at a meeting organised on the occasion, police officials paid rich tributes to those killed in the incident. Prizes were given away to the students who won competitions in sports, games, and literary events.

Assistant Superintendent of Police of Chintapalli Gopinath Jetty, Deputy Commandant of CISF Vasudevan, Inspector of Chintapalli V. Srinivasa Rao and other officers spoke.
