Combining fun and education together, the trekking programme organised jointly by the JCI Vizag Port City and the India Youth for Society has seen more than 60 volunteers participating in the event at Kambalakonda Eco-Tourism Park.
Armed with a water bottle and a cap, students from various colleges made their way to the venue to unravel the beauty of nature on Sunday morning.
The event, with its focus on polythene prevention, was flagged off by professor in the Department of Zoology, Andhra University, Ch. Manjulatha, who shared inputs on various means to protect our planet.

It was the maiden endeavour for most of the youngsters who could not contain their excitement throughout the adventure.
“We never knew that trekking draws one close to nature and allows us to share things in common. It’s an opportunity for us to unfurl new paths of entertainment while enjoying good food,” Shashank, one of the participants, said.

Representatives of JCI Vizag Port City and India Youth for Society participated in the programme, which emphasised on the need to keep the environment clean and plastic-free.
The objective, according to the organisers, was to protect environment and encourage youngsters to involve in outdoor adventures.
“This is the second event we are hosting in line with the Earth Day celebrations. Trekking not only helps the youth enjoy their vacation in an interesting manner but also aids in spreading environmental awareness,” M. Jagadish Kumar of India Youth for Society said.
The two-hour programme concluded with distribution of participation certificates to the volunteers.
