Train services continue to be hit

No damage was reported in the Waltair Railway Division, says official

The railways services continue to be hit owing to extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani as the authorities have cancelled 10 more trains scheduled to leave their originating stations on Friday and 20 more on Saturday.

Cancelled

The trains cancelled on May 3 are Vasco da Gama- Howrah Express (18048), Chennai Central - Bhubaneswar Express (12829), Tiruchchirappalli Jn. – Shalimar Express (12664), Chennai Central- Howrah Express (12840), KSR Bengaluru City - Bhubaneswar Express (18464), Yesvantpur - Howrah Express (12864), KSR Bengaluru City - Guwahati Express (12509), Mumbai CSTM - Bhubaneswar Express (11019), Secunderabad-Bhubaneswar Express (08408) and Guwahati- Tambaram Express (15630).

The trains cancelled on May 4 are Howrah – Secunderabad Express (12703), Bhubaneswar – Mumbai CSTM Express (11020), Howrah – Yesvantpur Express (12245), New Jalpaiguri Jn.– Chennai Central Express (22612), Haldia– Chennai Central Express (22614), Puri - Ahmedabad Express (12843), Howrah – Vijayawada Express (20889), Howrah - Chennai Express (12841), Howrah - Hyderabad Express (18645), Howrah – Yesvantpur (12863), Howrah – Chennai Express (12839), Howrah – Vasco da Gama Express (18047), Bhubaneswar– Jagdalpur Express (18447), Bhubaneswar – Junagarh Road Express (18437), Gunupur - Rourkela Express (18118), Chennai Central -Howrah Express (12842), Hyderabad - Howrah Express (18646), Jagdalpur - Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express (18448), Junagarh Road - Bhubaneswar Express (18438) and Howrah - Ernakulam Express (22877).

Short-terminated

Train no. 11019 Mumbai CSTM - Bhubaneswar Express, which arrived in Visakhapatnam on Thursday night has been short-terminated.

The train will return as a special service from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai CSTM with the timings and stoppages of Konark Express (11020) on Friday night to clear the passengers stranded due to Fani.

Train no. 22879 Bhubaneswar - Tirupati Express scheduled to leave Bhubaneswar on May 4, which was previously cancelled, will run on the same day as usual.

“No damage was reported from the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR). However, railway station buildings in Bhubaneswar and other places are said to have suffered extensive damages,” Senior Divisional Commercial Manager G. Suneel Kumar said on Friday evening.

Flight cancelled

Meanwhile, the Air India Tirupati – Visakhapatnam via Vijayawada ATR flight has been cancelled on Thursday. This flight was supposed to land at Visakhapatnam airport on Thursday evening and leave on Friday.

This could not be operated as it came to Vizag on the previous day.

The Air India operated an additional flight from Mumbai to Visakhapatnam to clear the rush of passengers in view of the cancellation of several flight services on Thursday, city airport director Dhananjaya Rao said.
