Suspected Maoists ‘blow up’ rail tracks

Following blasting of railway track by suspected Maoist activists between Doikallu and Muniguda railway stations in Rayagada-Titlagarh section in the early hours of Saturday some trains have been regulated.

According to a statement issued by East Coast Railways here on Saturday, CRPF Commandant at Muniguda informed about the blast on Railway track just after the incident occurred. As a result, train services in Rayagada-Titlagarh Section have been controlled at different stations en route. Engineering and RPF personnel rushed to the spot and restored the track.

Passenger trains allowed after passing of Light Engine and Goods Train with security clearance from GRP. There was no injury or causality reported.

Security in the rail section, including at sensitive places, have been strengthened follwing the incident.

As a result of the blast, a number of trains, including Rourkela-Koraput Express, Korba-Visakhapatnam Express, Dhanbad-Alleppey Express, Tata-Yesvantpur Express, Durg-Visakhapatnam Passenger, Yesvantpur-Sambalpur Special, Puri-Ahmedabad Express, Visakhapatnam-Durg Passenger and Bhubaneswar-Junagarh Express were detained en route.
