Suitcase with gold ornaments stolen

A suitcase containing 46 tolas of gold ornaments was stolen from a passenger travelling by the Visakha Express.

Ch. Durga Rao of Naupada came to a relative's house in the city. He was returning home by the Visakha Express on Thursday. He kept the suitcase below the berth. As the train was reaching Simhachalam station, he went to the toilet. By the time he returned, the train had already crossed Simhachalam. He looked below the berth and found the suitcase missing. He came back to the city and lodged a complaint with the Government Railway Police.

The value of the stolen gold ornaments is estimated at Rs.4.6 lakh. The case is being transferred to the Vizianagaram GRP.

Body found

The body of an unidentified man aged around 40 years was found in a drain below the flyover at Convent junction on Friday.

The body, which is in a highly decomposed state, has been kept at KGH Mortuary. Details can be had from the Harbour police station.
