Stripping: panel seeks report by March 24

State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Member S. Balaraju on Thursday condemned torturing of two school students at Maradapalem in Bheemili mandal by teachers and declared that corporal punishment would be dealt with very seriously.

During a visit to the school, he said teachers should always adopt a child-friendly approach. As per Section 17 of Right to Education Act 2009, punishing of children was illegal he said and asked district administration to prepare a report on the Maradapalem harassment case by March 24.

He interacted with the students and school staff. He also enquired about the condition of two students, who were stripped and later hospitalised.
