YSR Congress leader Y.S. Sharmila arrived in the town as part of her padayatra on Friday. All along the route, she greeted people and reached Collector’s Office at 11.30 a.m. where she extended support to the striking contract lecturers. Around 7 p.m., she reached three lamps junction where she addressed a huge gathering. The venue is about 100 meters away from the PCC president’s house. She was accompanied by party leaders P. Sambasiva Raju, Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao, Kalla Gowri Shankar and others were by her side.

Reeling out the welfare schemes of late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, she criticised the Kiran Kumar Reddy government for imposing VAT, diluting her father’s pet schemes and burdening common people by increasing prices of LPG, RTC fare, current charges etc. She took a dig at Botcha Satyanarayana and his family for giving importance to liquor over drinking water. “The Botcha family has four elected members but they did nothing for the fort town.” She said that YSR had sanctioned Rs. 70 crore for Tarakarama Theertha Sagar and completed pipeline work for supply of drinking water to the town. However, after his death the scheme remained incomplete thus depriving people of drinking water.
