Sangeeta Kala Sagara puraskar for vocalist

Visakha Music Academy has conferred its coveted title ‘Sangeetha Kala Sagara’ on renowned vocalist O.S. Thiagarajan on the sixth day of its ongoing seven-day annual festival of music and dance at Kalabharati here on Monday.

Ragam Kishore of Vizag Seaport Pvt Ltd along with academy’s chief patron and philanthropist S. Vijayakumar, academy’s president S.V. Rangarajan, secretary M.S. Srinivas and Prof A. Prasanna Kumar conferred the award and felicitated the artiste. Also, mridangist Vankayala Narasimham honoured him with a shawl.

Responding to felicitation, OST said that awards come on their way in recognition of talent for artistes but it meant greater responsibility on the part of the recipient to scale further heights in pursuit of art and propagate art in a big way.

Also, academy presented its young talent award to vocalist of promise Bhavaraju Lakshmi Surya Teja and student awards to D. Kameswari and Ch. Goutami. Academy presented its outstanding service award to S.V. Rangarajan and warmly felicitated him.

Ayyagari Bhujangarao, K.V. Rama Murthy, V.S.N. Murthy, Sripada Venkanna and Perala Balamurali Krishna took part in the programme. Later, vocal concert of OST regaled the music lovers.
