Refinery blast injured critical

The body of contract worker Ananta Gaud, who succumbed to burns in Mumbai, was flown in and handed over to his relatives in Odisha

The condition of one of the 13 injured in the HPCL refinery blast continued to be critical on Thursday.

The blast on August 23 has so far claimed 27 lives. The condition of one among six injured admitted to corporate hospitals in the city was critical following an infection. He was put on the ventilator.

Meanwhile, the body of Ananta Gaud, a contract worker who succumbed to the burns in Mumbai, was flown in and handed over to his relatives in Odisha.

Debris shifting activity from accident site to the designated location was in progress. Officials said so far, nearly 80 per cent shifting had been completed and the remaining work would be cleared within a week.

HPCL has so far handed over compensation amounting to Rs. 5.2 crore to the District Collector.

The overall situation is being monitored on a round-the-clock basis.
