Question mark over fate of allottees of plots

Yet to receive attachment orders: Ramky officials

The attachment of certain properties belonging to Ramky – the developer of Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City at Parawada – by the Enforcement Directorate will put a question mark on the future of allottees of various plots.

When contacted, Pharma City CEO P.P. Lal Krishna told The Hindu on Wednesday that they had not yet received the notices and declined to comment on the matter.

The allotment of 23 plots in non-Special Economic Zone and eight in SEZ area, which were allegedly sold by reducing the buffer zone for green belt, is under the scanner of CBI and Enforcement Directorate. ED, which announced the attachment of the properties, said on Tuesday that by selling the plots originally earmarked for raising the green belt, Ramky, had received Rs.133.74 crore and as a quid pro quo allegedly invested Rs.10 crore in Jagati Publications owned by Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Mr. Lal Krishna was quoted in a note released in July 2012 that they had earmarked over 350 acres for green belt – which was higher than other industrial parks. He had said the green belt was developed by them as per approvals by VUDA and AP Pollution Control Board as per the concession agreement.

The Hindu that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy owed an explanation as to how late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy gave clearance for reducing the green belt area and allowed Ramky to sell the plots for an exorbitant rate.

He said pressure was also brought on VUDA to allow pruning of green belt to sell plots knowing very well that it would be detrimental to environment.
