Andhra University faculty members can send research project proposals to the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences for consideration, Union Secretary Shailesh Nayak said during an interaction with faculty members here on Thursday.
Dr. Nayak, who is also president of the Indian Society of Geomatics, along with members of executive council of the society, earlier visited the AU College of Engineering and inspected the facilities available for holding the National symposium on remote sensing and GIS for environment with special emphasis on marine and coastal dynamics, being hosted by Department of Geo-Engineering and Centre for Remote Sensing of AUCE from December 4 to 6.
Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju explained the various research activities of the university and the future plans of the university for encouraging teachers to take up major research projects. Rector A.V. Prasada Rao, Principal of AUCE Ch.V. Rama Chandra Murthy and Registrar K. Rama Mohana Rao also spoke. During the visit to the college, Chairman of Faculty of Engineering and co-chairman of the organising committee of the National symposium P.S. Avadhani, organising secretary K. Nageswara Rao, executive secretary and HoD of Geo-engineering P. Jagadeeswara Rao, faculty members of the department and the members of the executive committee of the ISG Visakhapatnam chapter explained the various facilities available for successfully conducting the symposium.
