Project report for proposed Vizag outer ring road

December 19, 2013 01:58 pm | Updated 01:58 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The VUDA board has decided to go in for preparation of a detailed project report for an outer ring road (ORR), on the lines of the one in Hyderabad to promote transit-oriented growth nodes.

The semi-circular road will begin at Payakaraopeta and connect to the National Highway via Anakapalle and Relli near Kottavalasa and Vizianagaram.

The proposal has been presented before the Urban Metropolitan Transport Committee too. Once the project report is submitted to it and approved by the Government of India, it will provide 50 per cent of the required funds, according to VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj.

Dr. Yuvaraj said a new Costal Zone Management Plan should have been in place after the earlier CRZ norms had changed in 2011. The CZMP should have been ready in two years but has not been done so far. The Government of India has qualified seven agencies for it.

He said VUDA would call for tenders for CZMP from Pedagantyada to Bhimili as the remaining stretch up to Kakinada was covered in PCPIR Master Plan.
