People’s participation sought in Green Visakha project

The Implementation and Monitoring Committee of the Green Visakha Project invites all those interested to be a part of the project.

Colony residents’ associations, walkers’ clubs, educational institutions, commercial establishments, NGOs, voluntary organisations, and environmentalists will be given an opportunity to become part of the project by taking up safeguarding the planted saplings, says VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj. Such groups may contact VUDA DFO S. Ramamohan on phone number 9866076914 for details. A request in writing for allotment of areas should be made to him by June 14. Requests may also be forwarded by e-mail to ufdwing@gmail.com

The project aims at planting 40 lakh saplings over a period of five years in the city to fight pollution with the participation of 22 industries and the support of the district administration, the GVMC, and the VUDA. e AP Pollution Control Board is coordinating, and VUDA is extending technical cooperation.
