In connection with the fifth death anniversary of former Chief Minister of West Bengal and the founding Polit Bureau member of the CPI (M) party Jyothi Basu, 21 members of the party in the city signed up forms donating their bodies to the Andhra Medical College, here on Saturday.
The move for the cadaver donation, in a big way, started in the party with Jyothi Basu, who pledged his body to the Kolkata Medical College. “On that very day (January 17, 2010), over five lakh of our party members expressed their willingness. And we are continuing that tradition,” said Prabhavati, district secretary of Jyothi Basu Body Donation Encouragement Committee.
